New Member Benefit: Streamlined CME Reporting to ACCME and ABOS
AOFAS is pleased to announce that we can now report physician CME information directly to the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) and the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS).
ACCME CME Passport
AOFAS can now report CME claims on your behalf to the CME Passport, a web-based search tool designed to help physicians find CME activities, track CME credits, and generate CME transcripts across organizations. All state medical licensing boards have access to the CME credit data reported for their licensees, and there are 16 state boards that have designated ACCME's Program and Activity Reporting System (PARS) as their primary source, or actively use PARS, for CME information required for relicensure.
You must opt-in to use this feature by creating a free account on the CME Passport and providing your birth date and NPI number.
ABOS MOC Credit
AOFAS also reports any activity that qualifies for Maintenance of Certification (MOC) credit directly to ABOS. This includes accredited CME and self-assessment exams. ABOS requires that the activity be related to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases and injuries of the musculoskeletal system in order to be considered for MOC credit. AOFAS will report all programs that meet these qualifications.
Once you submit your credit claim to AOFAS for education activity, AOFAS will report the data to ABOS. The data will show in your ABOS portal immediately. AOFAS is in the process of submitting all qualifying 2023 events for ABOS MOC and will submit all activities that qualify moving forward. For activities prior to 2023, you will need to upload certificates and track credit on your own.
