Naomi N. Shields, MD, is a highly regarded orthopaedic surgeon and humanitarian, a former AAOS and AOFAS Board member, and the 2020 recipient of the AOFAS Career Impact Award. Dr. Shields was the first woman orthopaedic surgery resident at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in Texas and proudly served 11 years active duty in the US Air Force. She has been on 50+ humanitarian medical missions to Vietnam, Costa Rica, Haiti, and Nicaragua, providing clinical and surgical treatment to patients as well as education to the local physicians.
