Overview
The Non-Operative Foot and Ankle Course offers focused education for advanced health practitioners on the foot and ankle orthopaedic team. Topics include Wound Care, Ultrasound in Foot and Ankle Practices, and the Use of IDEO Braces and Orthotics/Prosthetics.
Objectives

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, learners should be able to:

  • Identify risks for wound healing problems, recognize wounds requiring intervention, and acquire the tools to manage these issues

  • Evaluate basic foot and ankle pathology with the use of an ultrasound and recognize the interventions that may be appropriate for ultrasound use

  • Understand the IDEO brace including the biomechanics and its potential uses in practice

Accreditation Statement
The American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The AOFAS designates the live activity for a maximum of 3.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ and the enduring materials for a maximum of 3.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The Non-Operative Foot and Ankle Course offers a maximum of 3.5 CE credits for physical therapist participants. The Illinois Chapter Continuing Education Committee has certified that this course meets the criteria for approval of Continuing Education offerings established by The Illinois Physical Therapy Association.

The American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) is approved by the Board of Certification, Inc. to provide continuing education to Certified Athletic Trainers. This program is eligible for a maximum of 3.75 hours/CEUs. Athletic Trainers should claim only those hours actually spent in the educational program.
