Kris Buedts is a Consultant Orthopedic and Trauma Surgeon and Head of the Foot and Ankle Unit at ZNA Middelheim Orthopedic Department in Belgium. He is responsible for the Foot and Ankle Resident and Fellowship Program at the hospital. He is a fellowship-trained Foot and Ankle Surgeon, having completed a 2-year fellowship in Belgium (under Dereymaeker Gr, MD PHD at the University of Leuven) and several visiting fellowships in the USA (under Ferkel, R MD at the SCOI Institute in California) and Europe. Kris is the current president of the European Foot and Ankle Society (EFAS) and associate editor of the Foot and Ankle Surgery Journal, and acted as a member of the editorial board of the Foot & Ankle International Journal until 2022. He is also the immediate past president of the Belgian Foot and Ankle Society (BFAS) and the Belgian Board Certification Program for Orthopedic Surgery, and is secretary of the International Society of Foot and Ankle Societies (IFFAS). Kris's special interests include arthroscopic ankle and hindfoot surgery, with a focus on primary and revision total ankle replacement surgery and foot and ankle trauma. Sheldon Lin, MD is chief of Foot Ankle Division and Associate Professor of the Department of Orthopedics at Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School. He has extensive clinical experience in lower extremity, with specific focus on foot and ankle trauma and fusions. Dr. Lin’s expertise has earned him the position of Associate Editor of Foot & Ankle International (2015-2021) as well as section editor for OKU Foot Ankle I and II. In addition, he has been Chair of the AOFAS Research Committee, OREF Prospective Clinical Research, and ORS Awards Committee. He continues to be reviewer for DOD CDMRP. He also has served as Program Chair for AOFAS 2018 as well as the Orthobiologic Symposium at the AOFAS Pre-meeting in 2012. He has served on AOFAS Board since 2021. His research interests have focused on the role of insulin and insulin mimetic agents upon bone healing. With his previous experience in Pre-clinical and Clinical FDA trials (BioMimetic Therapeutics/Wright Medical) in orthobiologic agents, he has developed an orthobiologic platform supported by multiple publications and presentations demonstrating its potential clinical application in fusions (hindfoot, spine), fracture healing(implantable and injectable options) and segmental defects. This technology platform has been built upon a strong IP portfolio, with several issued (US and Europe) and pending patents in the International forum.

Who Should Attend?

This educational program is designed for orthopaedic surgeons, physicians, and allied health practitioners in the field of orthopaedic foot and ankle surgery.

A need for this educational activity has been determined based on previous course evaluations and the AOFAS educational curriculum.
